Cebreiro

Description

This small but emblematic village is located 1330 high in an beautiful eviorment offering wonderful views over the “Serra do Courel”. From here starts the first stage of the camino frances on galician floor.

O Cebreiro is a historical and cultural site. It was one of the first places with hospital asisting pilgrims in the ninth century. It conservers examples of traditional pallozas, charistic buildings of this area. The pre-romanesque church of Santa Maria is the oldest monument on the Jacobean route to Santiago.
